Home Run Derby & Zydeco Concert

Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow started this event a few years back as a fun way to have a softball tournament, a homerun competition and opportunity to bring in lots of cash for operations for the Club in Opelousas. Chief Gallow was a member of the UL baseball team from 1982-85 and supports the Club in Opelousas in many ways.

The Home Run Derby is always held at South City Park in Opelousas.  How many home runs can you hit? The Home Run Derby Competition is open to all! Participants get 10 swings; the goal is to hit more home runs than Chief Gallow. The winner of the competition will receive a t-shirt and a trophy. The Home Run Derby Competition entry fee is $20 a person. Immediately following the Home Run Competition the Opelousas Police Department will play a game of softball.

We will have plenty of activities for the kids. They will have their own free Home Run Derby (12 years and under) and Fun Jumps!

We ask that you please leave your ice chest at home. There will be plenty of food and drinks for you to choose from. All proceeds will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs.
