City of Natchitoches Invests in Local Youth Development

Natchitoches, LA - In January of 2021, Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana announced the returning of a new club in the Natchitoches area. The City of Natchitoches is supporting the initiative to bring back the organization that provides a safe space for kids to grow, learn, and receive opportunities to enable their fullest potential. On September 16, the City of Natchitoches presented $40,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana in support of the building and foundation for the returning organization.

A local Advisory Council was formed to drive support through fundraising and advocacy for the new Club. “We’re thankful for the support and contribution of the City of Natchitoches and City Council to help bring a Boys and Girls Club back to Natchitoches. This will allow the youth of our city a safe haven to learn, grow, and develop into the future leaders of our community” – Vanner Erikson, Boys and Girls Club Natchitoches Advisory Chair.

The additional club in Natchitoches grows Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana to seven sites that serve children who need us most. The sight will serve kids ages 6-18 after school and during the summer that focus on Boys & Girls Club’s three core impact areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles and Habits, and Good Character and Citizenship.

“The City of Natchitoches’ support is critical for the success of the new Club. Having leaders who are invested in youth development will make a significant impact in the community. We are grateful for the support.” – Rhyan Wheeler, CEO Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana

This year marks the 51st anniversary of Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana. Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana operates under a mission to enable all young people, especially those that need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
